Hello! And welcome to my Mid-Year Check-In. In this check-in, we're going to look at the numbers (how many books I've read, page numbers, age groups, years read from, etc.), as well as checking in with where I am with the goals I set at the start of the year. I'll also be doing the Mid-Year Freakout Tag soon, so you can hear my thoughts about my favourite or least favourite books of the year so far - so keep an eye out for that!
Let's start with the numbers and some charts from my reading spreadsheet.
The Numbers
Books read this year: 101
Pages read this year: 37882
Average Star Rating: 3.7
Average Page Count: 375
Shortest Book Read: Good Girls Don't by Mara Wilson (89 pages)
Longest Book Read: The Light of All That Falls by James Islington (864 pages)
Reading Goals Check-In
Next, let's check-in with the goals I set at the start of the year, which you can find here.
1. Read at least 150 books - Well, I've currently read 101 and
we're only halfway through the year, so I feel like I'm on target here!
2. Read, finish, and catch up on more chunky fantasy series. This includes reading the books on my Ten Series I Need to Finish in 2023. I definitely feel like I've made a good start on this. Out of that list, I've completed 6 of the series and I'm partway through the 7th.
3. Read or unhaul the books on my Self-Destruct List. I'm happy to say I've either read or unhauled all the books on my 2023 Self-Destruct list. Look out for a future blog post on this for more details, as well as an updated list!
4. Remain consistent with my blog and bookstagram. I've definitely not been as active as I could be, however, I'm pleased I've made at least on blog post a month, even if it's just my TBR or Wrap-Up. Work has been very difficult this year, so I'm pleased I've still managed that.
5. Read all my books that I've owned for over 3 years (pre-2020). At the start of the year, this was at 29 books. I now only have 9 left to read, so I'm hopeful I can get through the rest by the end of the year - and potentially make a dent in my other backlist books from 2020 onwards.
I'm very pleased with how I'm doing for my goals so far this year! I'm also incredibly happy with how my reading has gone in general. I haven't been reading a lot in the latter half of this month, but I'm hoping my reading will pick up again soon.
Keep an eye out for more blog posts from me in the future (my Mid-Year Freakout Tag and June Wrap-Up will be coming your way soon). Let me know how your reading years has gone so far. Are you hitting the goals you set for yourself? Have you read any amazing books this year? Let me know in the comments! Hope you're all having a wonderful June and good luck for the rest of the year!
